What services can I access?

Returning Service MembersNetwork 1 provides a full range of health care services that will promote, preserve or restore health. In addition to the following standard services, special programs are available throughout our healthcare system and listed by facility on our Locations page.

Preventive Care Services

  • Immunizations
  • Physical Examinations
  • Health Care Assessments
  • Screen Tests
  • Health Education Programs

Ambulatory (Outpatient) and Hospital (Inpatient) Diagnostic and Treatment Services

  • Medical Surgical (including reconstructive/plastic surgery as a result of disease or trauma)
  • Mental Health
  • Substance Abuse
  • Prescription Drugs (when prescribed by a VA health care provider)

Dental

Recently discharged veterans who served on active duty 90 days or more and who apply for VA dental care within 90 days of separation from active duty may receive one time treatment for dental conditions shown to have existed at the time of discharge or release and the veteran's certificate of discharge (DD214) does not indicate the veteran received complete dental care within the 90 days prior to discharge or release.

What Does It Cost?

Returning service members who:

  • Served on active duty in a theater of combat operations during a period of war after the Gulf War, OR
  • Served in combat against a hostile force during a period of hostilities after November 11, 1998, AND
  • Have been discharged under other than dishonorable conditions

may receive FREE medical care for 5 years from the date of discharge from active duty for injuries and illnesses potentially associated with combat service.

Care and services for conditions clearly not related to combat service may require a co-payment if income is above the threshold for cost free care.

How Do I apply for Benefits and Healthcare?

You may apply for VA health benefits by completing VA Form 10-10EZ, Application for Health Benefits. The application form can be downloaded from the VA web site or obtained by visiting, calling, or writing any VA health care facility. You may also apply by using a secure online electronic application form.
