Precision cancer care as unique as your DNA

Genetic testing is turning out to be an essential part of making sure Veterans can access modern cancer treatment that targets their specific tumor mutations.

The test results can guide doctors toward FDA-approved therapies, but can also help inform patients whether or not a clinical trial might be right for them.

VA Tumor Genotyping

The Precision Oncology Program offers thorough genetic testing that screens 88 cancer-associated genes. This analysis is performed by a CLIA-validated contractor that can be ordered by VA oncologists. The program is targeting lung cancer, however, all patients, regardless of their type of cancer, can be considered for testing if referred by their doctor.

Commercial Testing Ordered Through Your Oncologist

The test can be performed using a sample that was taken during your original diagnosis.

Your current oncologist can order tumor genetic testing by contacting the Precision Oncology Program Coordinator by calling 1-800-865-3384, and dial extension 43387. Please call if you have questions.
