VA New England Healthcare System Announces New Medical Center Director

BEDFORD, MA. — The Department of Veterans Affairs is pleased to announce the appointment of Tammy A. Krueger as the new director of Manchester VA Medical Center.  Krueger will oversee a comprehensive healthcare system classified as a Complexity Level 3 facility that provides care to approximately 23,000 unique Veterans from Eastern New Hampshire, with an operating budget of $135+ million.

"We are pleased to appoint Ms. Krueger as the new director of Manchester VA Medical Center,” said Dr. Michael Mayo-Smith, Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN) 1 director.  “Her sound leadership qualities and proven experience will be valuable assets for the facility, the employees and volunteers, and for the Veterans we are honored to serve.  She is currently serving as the acting director, so we anticipate a smooth transition to this role."

Krueger’s over 30 years of healthcare experience holding progressive leadership positions includes deputy network director and acting director, VISN 1; director Bedford VA Medical Center and associate director and acting director, Manchester VA Medical Center where she has served since June 2013.

Krueger earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Granite State College. She is also a graduate of the Federal Interagency Institute at the George Washington University, a graduate of the National Preparedness Leadership Initiative at the Harvard University School of Public Health, the Leadership VA Program and a member of the LVA Alumni Association, and a graduate of the VA Health Care Leadership Institute.

Manchester VA Medical Center is part of the VA New England Healthcare System which includes eight medical centers, located in the six New England States: Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts. It is an integral part of VISN 1, headquartered in Bedford, Mass. Manchester VA Medical Center is comprised of one main campus located in Manchester, N.H. and four Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) located in Conway, Portsmouth, Somersworth, and Tilton. The Portsmouth outpatient clinic is located at Pease Air National Guard Base.
